Eyre’s Wish List:
As we are a not for profit and rely on volunteers there is always a list of things that would make life easier for our caretakers, guests and day visitors !
If you have visited and would like to help in any way, your support will be appreciated.
Couriers wanted: Are you going to Eyre? Or even just passing by Cocklebiddy? We often need to transport items to or from the Observatory. If you happen to be coming our way please contact our Caretakers and let them know you’d be willing to help.
Future Caretakers are always wanted!
Eyre management committee is seeking expressions of interest from volunteer couples to caretake at this unique facility for three-month periods.
The observatory is a not-for-profit research, education and nature-based facility.
Duties include public relations, weather reporting to Bureau of Meteorology, carrying out bird surveys, cooking for overnight guests, cleaning, and office duties.
Being bird enthusiasts will be a bonus.
Eyre is situated in a wilderness environment in the Nuytsland Nature Reserve on the Great Australian Bight. No dogs, or other pets, are permitted.
Potential caretakers are always welcome to enquire about the volunteer position. Those with flexible schedules can always be put on our list to be contacted in case of a cancellation.
Please note: this volunteer position is for couples only. Both need to be able to drive manual 4WD vehicles.
